Buying Diary – Day 1/ Vivienne Westwood Anglomania AW13

Vivienne Westwood is known for her critical view on political and environmental issues. However, her Anglomania AW13 collection has more of an element of light-heartedness about it. Playful prints add a youthful exuberance to the overall collection. We especially like the vibrant Tartan print with star and swan overlays. We shall keep you posted when the AW13 drop arrives in store.

Buying Diary – Day 1/ Alexander Wang AW13

Our buyers are busy in Paris curating the perfect A/W 13 pieces for the boutique. Day 1 got off to a good start with the much anticipated Alexander Wang ready-to-wear collection. Wang appears to be moving on from his ‘usual’ minimalist style and has introduced winter-warming fabrics and cosy textures like mohair and alpaca offset by pieces in shiny leather and heavy silks. There is a strong focus on oversized outerwear with back-to-the-80′s shoulders, while furry boxing-style gloves, rib-knit snoods and mini leg warmers make-up the accessories. The neutral colour palette is made up of charcoal grey, black, and chocolate brown with the odd flash of rich chestnut red. Expect to see Alexander Wang in store around September time.

As always, Westwood refuses to tailor to the latest fashion trends and fads, rather producing clothes to make women feel good and to last forever. And there are no shortage of pieces for autumn/winter. Our favourite pieces included sharply tailored tartan blazers, floaty LBDs, sheer-panelled tiered skirts and long-length, striped wrap coats. The gold mid-length disco boots were pretty lust-worthy too!

A peek at the gorgeousness of the Stella McCartney Resort collection. The presentation was a carnival themed affair complete with lemonade stands, a live brass band and nostalgic fairground attractions.Models donned the season’s menswear inspired suits, delicate lace dresses and perforated pleated skirts while prints and neons were mixed at whim. Lovely from head to toe!

Event/ Fashion for Good

We were privileged to take part in this year’s Fashion for Good event at the Brooklands Hotel in Weybridge. The red carpet event saw Bernard Boutique and other local retailer’s strut their stuff on the catwalk in support of the charity that helps disadvantaged families living within the local area. Our stylists Sasha and Jess and owner Helene pulled together ten seasonal looks that were met with rapturous applause during the finale of the show. Our catwalk presentation comprised of luxury labels such as Moncler, Helmut Lang and Alexander McQueen to name but a few and focused on texture in the form of fur, leather and laser cut details – shop the looks at www.bernardboutique.com.
