Peter Pilotto and Christian de Vos are masters of dreaming up challenging designs and consequently executing them with such perfection; elegantly marrying up texture, print and colour which make the Pilotto brand reflect the true innovation that characterises London fashion.
Despite the challenge of making this AW12 collection as successful, if not more, than their breakthrough SS12, they have pulled off it off in a sensational manner. Not because they set forth anything dramatically different, but because they built on their existing ideas and elaborated on them beautifully, evolving from strength to strength. Geometric cut-outs, strict necklines and angled collars all contributed to the classic Pilotto look, while their patterns based on the Japanese subculture of ‘light trucks’ gave the clothes striking 3-dimensional structure.
This is why the ‘Pek’ top is our most desired piece this week, featuring a jaquard net and floral print with a flattering a pleated hankerchief hem. The fiery reds and subtle neon greens make it decadent but never over the top. It’s one of those pieces that will add that va va voom to an attire, as it easily stands strong on its own. Paired with a pair of black skinnies, it can make an effortless statement.
